Beats Solo2 Wireless Review

I’ve been a fan of Beats headphones since I bought my first pair of Solo HDs 4 years ago, and I must say things have come a long way since then.

 

 

With the new Beats Solo2 on-ear headphones, some of the first Beats products to come out after the Apple take over, the sound quality has been greatly improved from the original Solos. The trademark Beats bass is still there, but the sound is more open, with more detail and presence in the higher frequencies. I listen to a mixture of dance and pop music, and find the Solo²s handle everything absolutely fine. 

 

 

The Beats Solo² Wireless add Bluetooth to the mix, and are rechargeable. They come with a micro USB cable for charging, which can be plugged into the Apple USB power adapter or a USB socket on your computer, and takes just a few of hours of charging to give you up to 12 hours of music playback. The great thing with these headphones is that they still work if the battery runs out, and they come with a RemoteTalk cable to use in this situation.

 

 

Pairing to your iOS device or Mac is really easy, taking just a few seconds. The Beats logo on the left earpiece is a button which is used for pairing - just press and hold to put into pairing mode. This button is also used for play/pause, skipping tracks, and answering/ending calls, as the headphones handily feature a built-in mic.

 

 

The build and finish of the Solo²s are excellent. The ear cups are soft but dense, and extremely comfortable. The band and hinges feel really strong, and the colours match the current line of iOS devices and MacBooks, coming in gold, silver and space grey. As well as the micro USB cable and RemoteTalk cable, the box contains a soft carrying pouch for carrying your Beats in when they are folded.

 

 

I can safely say the Solo2 Wireless are my new favourite headphones!
