MyScript Calculator

In the KRCS education team, we’re often asked for App recommendations and ideas to help teachers get started with the App Store. This is especially true since there are (as of March 2016) 1 million iPad-specific Apps available on the App Store!

MyScript Calculator is an ideal App for me; it’s free, has lots of uses, and is quick to download and try. It takes a very simple concept and executes it really well. Essentially, you can write sums on your iPad screen, and MyScript Calculator will convert your handwriting to text, and calculate the answer.

The flexibility makes this App a really powerful tool; it can be used for anything from a reception student practising number writing and simple addition, to an A-level maths student checking their equations. Students could even screenshot their calculations and paste into a document to explain their workings.
